As we turn the calendar to a new year for many of us that means making resolutions and possibly new beginnings. Midwest Physical Therapy is offering a new service in 2023 while welcoming a Bloomer native.
Jim Price, owner of Midwest Physical Therapy said, “We wanted to broaden our scope of services to patients in our market. With both Physical Therapy and now Chiropractic care, we have a more comprehensive menu of services for those needing spine and joint care than almost any clinic in the area. Patients can feel confident that we will work together to provide the optimal treatment plan for their specific injury or issue. In talking with Dr. Abe Skaw, it was evident that our approaches would fit together very well.”
Dr. Skaw was born and raised in Bloomer, Wis. He graduated cum laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, where he earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic degree in October 2022.
While in school, he served as the president of the Motion Palpation Club and co-founder of the Rehab 2 Performance Club. In these clubs, he and other representatives taught fellow colleagues the skills of joint manipulation, rehabilitation, and therapeutic strategies to treat patients. During his clinical, he spent most of his time treating patients in the Palmer Rehabilitation and Sports Performance Clinic. He finished his clinic rotation in Brookfield, Wis., within a multidisciplinary private practice. At this clinic, Skaw treated patients hand in hand with chiropractors, physical therapists, massage therapists, personal trainers, as well as functional medicine providers.
Dr. Skaw describes his practice model as patient-centered, evidence-based, and all-encompassing. He follows the clinical practice guidelines on musculoskeletal care and uses up-to-date approaches to assess, diagnose and treat.
While completing his doctorate, Dr. Skaw acquired over 250 hours of continuing education in the field of rehabilitation and manual therapy becoming proficient in various approaches to treatment. His treatment is not a one-size-fits-all process and generally requires longer appointment times spent with patients.
Dr. Skaw’s goal in practice is to educate patients on their condition and how they can manage it in between visits and how to prevent reoccurrence. With a variety of approaches at his disposal, Dr. Skaw is able to provide an all-encompassing and patient-centered healthcare experience that bridges the gap from pain to performance. He believes in the ability to live pain-free for a better quality of life while maximizing human performance and minimizing injury.
