‘Lansdale Chiropractic Center’ is final borough business of the month for 2022

LANSDALE — 2022’s final winner of Lansdale’s Business of the Month award has helped area residents recover from holiday aches and pains, and much more, for decades.

Lansdale Chiropractic Center and Dr. Douglas Gehman were recognized during council’s last meeting of the year.

“I’m constantly doing things that throw my back out of whack: splitting wood, moving furniture, falling off the roof, that kind of thing,” said economic development committee member Rege McKenzie.

“I find that regular tune-ups allow me to continue to do things I shouldn’t be doing. If any of you pull your back out of shape, stop and see Dr. Doug. He’ll straighten you out,” he said.

Located on the 600 block of West Main Street, between Cannon and Towamencin Avenues, Lansdale Chiropractic Center opened in 1985 under the leadership of Gehman, a Harleysville native and Souderton Area High School graduate in 1978, McKenzie told borough council on Dec. 21. After attending Penn State and a chiropractic college in Georgia in the early 1980s, Gehman returned to the area to found his own practice, with wife Mary playing a key role since the couple married in 1981.

“Mary has been the office manager since 1985, where she has honed her skills as the face of Lansdale Chiropractic for Dr. Gehman’s patients — as well as an irritant to Dr. Gehman,” McKenzie said, drawing laughs from council and the couple.

“As a chiropractor, Dr. Gehman adjusts subluxations of the spine and extremities, which improves joint mobility and stability, decreasing pain. This can also help remove any nerve interference, so your body can do what it is ingeniously designed to do,” he said.

Gehman also recommends home exercise and nutrition programs to keep muscles and bones in top shape, and once immediate issues are solved, regular checkups can help prevent any issues from happening again.

“It’s been a pleasure to serve the Lansdale community for the past 37 years. It’s much appreciated, the recognition, and I look forward to continuing to serve the public into the future, and wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and happy holiday season,” Gehman said.

Lansdale Chiropractic Center is located at 606 West Main Street and is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays; for more information call (215) 855-4040.
