Santa Clarita Chiropractor Releases ‘A Guide To Self-Care: Tested Lifestyle Medicine Tips’

Inside one of the most expensive health care systems in the world, a Santa Clarita chiropractor released “A Guide to Self-Care” – a book teaching how to take preventive measures before tragedy strikes.

Dr. Thomas Polucki, a certified Functional Medicine Practitioner providing medical and chiropractic relief to patients throughout the Santa Clarita Valley, released “A Guide to Self-Care” following years of being disappointed in the self-care advice he could find online.

“It’s been my patient’s homework for the past 30 years: to look this up,” Polucki said. “But I became disappointed in the information I could find online myself, and I decided to create my own (self-care guide).”

Prevention: The Most Affordable Form Of Healthcare

Polucki’s “A Guide To Self-Care” aims to turn bad habits into powerful medicine by promoting health and active management of illness when it occurs, according to Polucki.

“Prevention is the most affordable healthcare there is on the planet,” Polucki said. “I hope that this guide helps people shift their awareness of how ineffective and obscenely expensive the current healthcare is in this country. Instead, take care of yourself and don’t wait for an emergency to take action.”

The Santa Clarita chiropractor was inspired by the prevention measures he witnessed as a child, and how prevention seems to correlate with drops in illnesses over most types of medical treatment, according to Polucki.

“When the tobacco industry was caught lying to the public and forced into a class action lawsuit where they were forced to spend billions of dollars on public service campaigns against their own products (in 2006), cancer and emphysema dropped faster with commercials than any medical treatment, even after the War on Cancer in the 60s, just by educating the public,” Polucki said.

Creating a customized self-care plan and automating those actions into a daily routine, according to Polucki, not only contributes to one’s emotional, mental and physical health, but consistent self-care routines also prevent the stress that often leads to injury and illness.

“A Guide to Self-Care” focuses on four main pillars of self-care: rest, exercise, stress management and nutrition. Written in the pages, Polucki details two actions within those four areas to maintain mental and physical wellness.

“I grew up in a medical family,” Polucki said. “In tenth grade, I woke up and couldn’t turn my head, and so for once my ultra-conservative family decided it might be beneficial to see a chiropractor. Within a few visits, I felt incredible and I decided to follow that path instead of going to medical school.”

Polucki has seen major success in the Santa Clarita Valley as a result of his natural pain relieving methods.
