The family firm was launched in 2018 in Locks Heath by Hannah and Alex Becu who were on a mission to provide an alternative to traditional surgery.
The couple met when Hannah’s mum Kate was recovering in hospital from spinal fusion surgeries number 12 and 13 was working as a part-time catering assistant while studying at night school to get to chiropractic college.
She set him up with her daughter and the pair have been spreading the chiropractic love ever since.
They told the Daily Echo: “Modern medicine and surgery, whilst powerful and often life-saving in emergency care, can often too easily be the answer for simple and treatable disease within the body, and the decision to interfere with the body in this way can completely change the trajectory of a person’s health and life.
“We guide and educate as many people as possible to empower them with the knowledge and understanding of how their body works and what it needs – at the very least, to try the less invasive and lower risk options first.
“We believe that most people never get close to reaching their full health potential. We want to be their first choice when it comes to restoring, maintaining, and improving health to help people avoid costly and risky surgeries.”
Hannah and Alex have since teamed up with Tom Gordon, expanded the business and moved to larger premises.
Housed inside a Grade II listed building, the colourful open plan space was officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Southampton, Cllr Jacqui Rayment, in September.
Chiropractic care is not just for back issues. Life Effect Chiropractic has helped clients with different health concerns including headaches, neck issues, sciatica, sports injuries, joint problems and everything in between.
They say they have a regular client who initially arrived in a wheelchair and now confidently walks in without the use of any aids. Another client is now able to be a better parent and focus at work as they no longer get weekly migraines and spend days in bed. Other clients are now able to play a sport they love again, run around with their kids or grandkids without any pain, or even simply lift their arms overhead again.
The business also works with local charities and businesses to help reduce stress, increase productivity, and ease pains through free health talks and posture and alignment checks.
